Create Wisconsin Month
April 2024

Presented by Create Wisconsin in partnership with people, organizations, and businesses throughout the state! Create Wisconsin Month - celebrated annually throughout the month of April - highlights the diversity and variety of Wisconsin’s amazing arts and creative sector, demonstrates the ways in which creativity revitalizes communities across the state, and shares those stories with representatives and decision-makers.  Keep checking this page and Create Wisconsin’s social media for updates about Create Wisconsin Month.

Create Wisconsin Month 2024 programs to date:

  • April is National Poetry Month! A time to celebrate poets and their craft locally and globally.

  • Wisconsin Schools Film Festival, registration + video deadline is April 30. Hosted by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech & Dramatic Arts Association.

  • Thursday, April 4-Thursday, April 11 - Wisconsin Film Festival, Madison

  • Sunday, April 7: The Stevens Point Area Festival of the Arts (FoA) will celebrate its 50th year, Sunday, April 7, 2024, 10am-4pm in Plover, WI, at Artist & Fare, O'so Brewing Co., and Mission Coffee (1800 Plover Rd, Plover, WI).

  • Sunday, April 8 - Saturday, April 13: National Library Week

  • Thursday, April 11 - Thursday, April 25 - Milwaukee Film Festival

  • Friday, April 12-Saturday, April 13 - Wisconsin Screenwriter’s Symposium, at Vilas Hall, 821 University Avenue, Madison. Co-sponsored by the UW-Madison Department of Communication Arts, and the International Screenwriter’s Association, the first annual Wisconsin Screenwriter’s Symposium is a convening of area storytellers, aspiring screenwriters, and film students for a series of educational workshops, panels, and career development events. Events include a panel on breaking into the business, an elevator pitch event, and workshops led by professional screenwriters.

  • Monday, April 15: World Art Day - an international celebration of fine arts, declared by the International Association of Art ( IAA /AIAP), a partner of UNESCO, in order to promote awareness of creative activity worldwide. April 15 also marks Leonardo da Vinci's birthday.

  • Monday, April 15 - Sunday, April 21: World Creativity and Innovation Week - sharing creativity globally.

  • Saturday, April 20: Crafting a Career: Artist Panel Discussion, presented by Wisconsin Craft, at Art + Literature Lab, Madison

  • Saturday, April 20-Sunday, April 28: Badgerland Remake Learning Days, celebrating the joy and fun of learning together

  • Sunday, April 21: World Creativity & Innovation Day (#WCID), the United Nations International Day of Observation empowering people to use new ideas, make new decisions, and make the world a better place.

  • Saturday, April 27: International Sculpture Day

History

Create Wisconsin Month includes and goes beyond Arts Day, a one-day program hosted by Arts Wisconsin (as Create Wisconsin was previously known) 1998-2019, and . Begun in April 2020, Create Wisconsin Month each April provides 30 days of programming to celebrate the arts, culture, and creativity in every corner of the state.
