Creative Conversations

Create Wisconsin has hosted many gatherings and workshops over the years, on a multitude of topics related to the arts, culture, and creativity; development; advocacy; and a combination of all of those. We’ve started off this year with Creative Conversations, the first of which happened virtually on January 27, followed by an in-person meeting at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland on January 31.

Creative Conversations are online monthly convenings, hosted by Create Wisconsin and a wide variety of partners. These sessions bring together Wisconsinites in every corner of the state - creative workers and creative business leaders; economic, workforce, civic and tourism development professionals and supporters; politicians; really, anyone who cares about Wisconsin’s future - to learn about and discuss updates on advocacy and legislation, trends, research, and issues impacting the arts, culture, and creativity in Wisconsin.  As the post-pandemic world comes into view, many industries in Wisconsin - including the creative sector - are facing historic challenges and opportunities.

Each month, we’ll talk about the issues around those challenges and opportunities, such as workforce retention issues, funding changes, audience participation, and necessary opportunities to expand engagement and involvement.

Here’s follow up info from the two January Conversations. Do you have a topic you think we should discuss? Or comments, questions and thoughts? Get in touch at info@createwisconsin.org.

Office of Rural Prosperity Blue Ribbon Commission report:  The Governor’s Blue-Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity has released “Rural Voices for Prosperity: A Report of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity,” which calls for coordinated measures across state government to meet the needs of Wisconsin’s rural communities. The report features 10 overarching recommendations that, taken together, would commit state government to a comprehensive approach to rural prosperity, create new partnerships with rural and tribal communities in the designing and delivering of state services, and invest more thoughtfully to address rural Wisconsin’s critical challenges and most promising opportunities.  Also, the rural prosperity website is a great resource https://ruralwi.com/
